5th Dragoon Guards, (Princess Charlotte of Wales').

Raised in 1685 as the Duke of Shrewsbury's regiment of Horse, and in 1784 changed their name to 5th Dragoon Guards.

Regimental Battle Honours

1701 - 1715  at  Blenheim, Ramallies, Oudenarde, Malplaquet, during the War of the Spanish Succession
1793 - 1802, Beaumont, during the French revolution.
1808 - 1814, Salamanca, Vittoria, Toulouse, during the Peninsula War
1854 - 1855, Balaclava, Sebastopol, during the Crimean War
1899 - 1902,  Defence of Ladysmith during the Boer War
1914 - 1918, Mons, le cateau, Marne, Messines 1914, Ypres 21914, 1915, Bellewaarde, Somme 1916, 1918, Cambrai 1917, 1918, Ameiens, and Mons. during the First World War.

The regiment was awarded one Victoria Cross, won by Second Lt J Norwood, at Ladysmith during the Boer War. 1899.

The Inniskillings (6th Dragoons)  Raised in 1689 as Cunningham's Dragoons changing there name in 1751 to the 6th Inniskillin Dragoons.

1756 1763   Warbung during the Seven years war
1793 - 1802  Willems, during the French revolutionary wars
1815  Battle of waterloo
1854  - 1855  Balaclava,and Sebastopol during the Crimean War
1899 - 1902  The Boer War
1914 - 1918  Somme 1916, 1918, Morval, Cambrai, St Quentin Canal. Pursuit to Mons. During World war One

One Victoria Cross awarded to Surgeon Mouat, (print available) during The Battle of Balaclava, Crimean war

Both regiments were amalgamated in 1922, to become the 5th Inniskiling Dragoons, (Guards was added in 1927, and Royal added in 1935, (becoming 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards
